The Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) continues this summer, as the best teams in the world feature in the Midseason Championship hosted at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC). OWCS 2026 Midseason Championship dates, format and schedule

The OWCS Midseason Championship gets underway at the end of July and concludes in early August. The OWCS is organised by Blizzard Entertainment and replaced the now-defunct Overwatch League.

The Midseason Championship is held in Paris, France as part of the 2026 EWC. There’s a $1 million prize pool to be won, with the winning team receiving $400,000 in prize money. What’s more, as with all other events at the EWC, teams can earn Club Championship points based on their performance.

The Midseason Championship is split into 2 stages: the group stage and the playoffs. Here are the main dates to be aware of for the OWCS schedule:

How the OWCS Midseason Championship format works

In the group stage of this Overwatch tournament, the 16 teams are split between 2 double-elimination brackets. Each match is played using the first-to-2 format, where a team that wins 2 maps wins the match. The top 4 teams from each group progress to the playoffs.

The playoff stage is a single-elimination bracket. Here, matches are played using the first-to-3 format, where a team wins the match after winning 3 maps. However, the Grand Final is played using the first-to-4 format.

Throughout the OWCS Midseason Championship, teams can ban 1 hero per map, and neither team can use that hero. Each ban must be from a different role than the other team’s ban, such as damage heroes or support heroes. In addition, teams can only ban a hero once per series. The higher-seeded team chooses to ban first.

The map handicap market lets you bet on either team to win the match with a handicap or advantage applied. For example, if you bet on Zeta Division -1.5, they’d need to win by at least 2 maps for your bet to payout.

Total maps over/under

The standard map pool of 18 maps is included for the OWCS Midseason Championship. The total maps market allows you to predict how many maps will be played during the match. Choose over or under the specific line.
